Remember this project? Well, after our embroidery workshop last Thursday night, I was inspired to pick it up again and incorporate some of my new skills. Now it looks like this:
The workshop, led by our very own Sally, was so informative and fun. We covered the embroidery basics–stem stitch, split stitch, chain stitch, back stitch, French knots–and by the end of it, I felt confident enough in my newly-acquired embroidery abilities to revamp what had been a very simple project.
The basics of embroidery seem to be relatively easy to master, and what’s so exciting about that is the fact that embroidery doesn’t have to be limited to wall-art, like my dinosaurs. You can embroider almost anything, from pillowcases to curtains to hankies, and for the less domestically-inclined (ahem, that would be me) and possibly broke (ahem, ahem), it’s easy to embroider some of your old clothes, tricking yourself into feeling like they’re new.
